About this space

Bring your perspective.

What to send

An original essay, a considered opinion, an observation with something behind it, or a response to a published piece. Be specific. Explain your reasoning. Link to sources when you make claims that readers should be able to check.

For a response, use Write a response on the original article. That keeps the two pieces connected. Shorter thoughts belong in the comments.

What happens next

Save a private draft or send it for review. Your account shows whether the piece is awaiting review, needs changes, was rejected, or was published. Submission does not guarantee publication or a response within a particular time. The editor may pause submissions when the queue is full.

Use your own writing or material you have permission to submit. Don’t include confidential information, someone’s private contact details, threats, targeted harassment, plagiarism, or undisclosed advertising. Explain any significant use of AI in the writing to the editor through your submission.

Your words, your byline

You keep ownership of your writing. By submitting, you give Oddpinions non-exclusive permission to publish the approved version with your chosen byline and to display excerpts linking to it. We do not treat your participation as agreement with the editor’s views. Substantive editorial disagreement is labeled as a response, not put into your words.

You can withdraw a draft or pending submission from review. After publication, propose a revision from your account or contact the editor about correction or removal. A pending revision does not replace the approved version. Approved substantive revisions are accompanied by a dated note. Existing backups and private moderation records may retain earlier versions.

Keep a copy of anything important. Never put passwords or other secrets in a submission. Consent version: 2026-09-05.

Evidence first. No party gets a pass.

Start with current events, follow the records and include the facts that complicate an argument. We examine power and incentives without assuming coordination, forcing equal blame or telling readers what to think.

Plain language, open corrections, practical options and their tradeoffs. Read the full editorial standards.
